What's the reason behind your racing number?

Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 27

I use 34 in both rallycross and online games. There’s not much of a story to it, though. I just think it looks good, sounds good, and doesn’t have any common meaning, (69, 42, 01, etc.) so it’s not going to be used often by others. It could also partly have a subconscious connection to Corvette Racing, with their #3 and #4 cars. Does anyone have any good reasoning behind theirs?

I use 25 all the time and it’s for more than just racing and I’m not exactly sure why because the numbers I find more “important” are 5, 6, and 98. Sometimes I’ll use 24 though because 2+4=6 but yeah.

Either 13 or 42. 13 was my number when I played baseball as a kid and 42 for the normal reasons.

My autoX # was 41 since my high school football jersey was 41 which I picked because it was the only 4- number available freshman year. I liked 40 numbers for some reason.

I use 15, as most if not all of the cars I’ve raced in our many Forza racing series has shown. Firstly, it’s because of the F-15 Eagle. Secondly, while trying to create a livery for the first Oppo Le Mans race, I wanted to use a number not worn by any cars that took part in the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans. The same will apply to any future series. My back up number is 11, which I wore on most soccer jerseys growing up.

I used 43 for the same reason, until that car came to an unfortunate end. That number feels unlucky to me now. I am using 66 now. 1966 LeMans win for ford. The team who was listed for car #66 won but they were changed to # 67. I’m sticking with 66.

I liked 3 for my jersey numbers, sometimes 33 if 3 was taken. Those numbers are always taken so 34 or 43.

I have two numbers I use. 13, for the day I was born, and 35, for my dad’s Boy Scout troop, which I spent a good 20 years in/working with.

76, it was my football number for 10 years so I’m a bit attached. Also, Orlando Pace.

I use #7 as a tribute to Colin McRae. It was the last number he ran in competition.

I use 61 because it’s uncommon and the phrase “Six to one, half a dozen to another”.

27 is the day I was born, 127 is my backup since that’s my full birthday.

That’s also the number of seconds of the future that people saw during the blackout in the TV show Flash Forward.

I wish it didn’t get canceled so soon.

My 1st number was assigned to me drag racing bikes. #3632. Any number needed after that (flat tracking bikes-dirt cars + now hillclimbing)—and online is 36. Oh yea-screen names too.

7 because I was born on 7/7. For autocross I also have a 6 and a 1 to stick on the car so I can be 6, 1, 76, 71, 67, 61, 16, 17, 91, 97, 19, 79, 176, 179, 167, 197...

I started running 43 on my kart because I just like the number. Didn’t realize for months that it was used by Richard Petty.

#562

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll give you the backstory - In the very first season of survivor someone couldn’t decide who to vote for to win the million. So they said pick a number between 1-1000, closest to it gets my vote.

I guess 562 as it was the most random number I could think of between 1-1000.

The answer was 563, so with a random guess I was only 1 off, and should have had 1 vote for a million bucks.

I’ve used 562 on everything ever since. Screennames, xbox live, email, Kinja - everything.

Sad part is that was the only season of survivor I ever actually watched hahaha

My racing number is 888, which comes from two places:
o 888 = far-East Asian (wealth+wealth+wealth) = Good Luck.
o 888 = the Jesus number, as in "888, SO SLOW!".

i use 7 when available for my birthmonth, 15 if 7 isnt available and i try to stick to multiples of 7, like 21, 28, 35 and 49 and 56.

In extreme cases that all my favorite multiples of 7 are taken, i will use 81 for my birth year...

328 = 2^3 × 41.
328 is the sum of the first fifteen primes, and is a refactorable number. (From Wikipedia.)

Well, if it has an 8 in it, then it is considered lucky in Chinese numerology. See "Numbers in Chinese Culture" in Wikipedia. . .

Maybe some people may have been confused by the BMW roundels on this delight: http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/china-just-chu… And if they buy one, then the Chinese car companies are lucky too!

13. Picked it when I started racing at 4 or 5. Was a big number! That’s why I picked it.
